Seasoned CFO and Entrepreneur Alexis Nelson Joins Turning Point, Expanding the Firm’s Portland Team

SEATTLE, WA – Turning Point Strategic Advisors is pleased to welcome Alexis Nelson to the firm as a Senior Consultant.  With a career spanning investment banking, venture capital, and C-suite financial leadership, Alexis brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial experience and rigorous financial expertise to Turning Point’s growing practice.

“Alexis brings something truly distinctive to our team. She has lived on both sides of the equation as a founder and as a CFO, and that experience translates directly into the kind of trusted partnership our clients need,” said Alan Chaffee, CEO of Turning Point. “Her arrival deepens our bench and strengthens our ability to serve companies that are navigating growth, capital strategy, and operational complexity.”

Alexis began her career at Allianz Global Investors before taking an entrepreneurial leap as the first employee of Lifecycle Adventures, scaling the company to 13 global locations and earning national recognition from National Geographic. She later earned an MS in Finance from Portland State University, where she founded the PSU Impact Ventures Fund - the first student-led impact venture fund at a public university in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to moving into CFO Advisory and consulting, she served as CFO of a venture-backed climate tech company, raising two rounds of venture funding, building financial infrastructure from the ground up, and leading investor relations and board reporting.

“I love being a trusted advisor to CEOs and executive teams, learning about new companies, and translating numbers into strategy that drives growth,” said Alexis. “Turning Point’s exceptional team and the caliber of work they do for middle market businesses made this an easy decision.”

As a Senior Consultant, Alexis will serve as a strategic financial partner for middle market companies, supporting clients with CFO advisory services, financial forecasting, capital planning, and the development of scalable financial systems.

Alexis holds a BA in Economics and Law from Mills College, an MBA from Mills, and an MS in Finance from Portland State University. She serves as a board member at The Climate Trust, on the Investment Committee of Portland State Impact Ventures, and is a founding member of the Portland chapter of the Applied AI Association.

A world traveler who has visited every continent except Antarctica, Alexis has sailed the Nile, lived in Italy, and trekked, kayaked, and ridden horseback across Patagonia and Machu Picchu. Closer to home in Portland, she enjoys cycling, hiking, and skiing with her family.
