Who We Are

As Turning Point’s CFO, Sonja Rasmussen brings deep expertise in capital planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic advisory. She believes the strongest financial outcomes occur when stakeholders are fully engaged in the company’s financial narrative. By partnering closely with leadership teams to connect financial performance to operational reality, she ensures teams not only receive clear insights, but also understand the story behind the numbers. Her collaborative, hands-on approach quickly builds trust and drives confident, data-informed decisions. With experience across North America, Asia, and Europe, and fluency in Canadian GAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS, she is well-positioned to support clients in international markets.

Her experience spans hedge funds, energy trading, transportation logistics, and large-scale capital planning. She began her career in Bermuda at Citigroup Hedge Fund Services, managing full-cycle accounting for complex derivative portfolios with gross margins up to $300 million. She went on to hold senior financial roles in Canada's energy sector at TransAlta and ENMAX, leading teams in financial reporting and operating plan development. Most recently, she served as a senior financial professional at Amazon, where she partnered with operations on the launch planning and execution of a $2.5 billion capital budget for North American Sort Centers.

Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, hiking, and any outdoor activity she can find. She is active in the Seattle-area education community, serving as Community Chair at the North Seattle French School. A Canadian by birth, she and her family reside in Edmonds, WA but are currently spending a year abroad in Barcelona, immersing their kids in an international experience and language learning, and are always planning their next adventure.
