Senior Finance Professional Joins Turning Point’s Growing Consulting Practice

SEATTLE, WA – Turning Point Strategic Advisors is pleased to welcome Sonja Rasmussen to the team as a Senior Consultant. With a career that spans global hedge funds, capital-intensive logistics, and large-scale event finance, Sonja brings a well-rounded, solutions-driven approach to the CFO advisory firm.

Sonja began her career in Bermuda, valuing hedge funds before transitioning into oil and gas trading floors in Canada. Most recently, she managed a $2.5 billion capital budget for Amazon’s North American Sort Centers, where she was a key financial partner during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her forward-thinking strategy resulted in an $800 million capital increase to meet soaring customer demand, a decision that required intense planning, bold creativity, and direct reporting line to Amazon’s CFO.

“Sonja has exactly the kind of talent and mindset we look for at Turning Point,” said CEO Alan Chaffee. “Her unique ability to manage complexity, communicate financial insights, and lead through change will be an incredible asset to both our clients and our team. We’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Sonja was drawn to Turning Point for its people-first philosophy, notably embodied by the firm’s CEO. “Alan’s integrity, compassion, and commitment to professional excellence are rare,” said Sonja. “Turning Point’s culture reflects those values, and I’m excited to be part of a team that truly invests in both its clients and its people.”

At Turning Point, Sonja will serve as a strategic financial partner for middle-market companies navigating growth, operational change, and capital planning. She will support clients through budgeting, forecasting, and financial storytelling, empowering leadership teams to make confident, data-driven decisions.

In addition to her consulting work, Sonja remains active in the Seattle-area education community, serving as the Community Chair at the North Seattle French School and advising Foghorn Northwest Education. A Canadian by birth, Sonja now resides in Edmonds, WA with her family. She is an active skier, volleyball player, and adventurer who is always ready to explore a new corner of the world.

Sonja’s arrival marks another step in Turning Point’s continued expansion and dedication to providing exceptional, hands-on financial leadership for businesses at every stage of their journey.
